My style is all about capturing the real emotions of the day, in a non-intrusive (and fun!), way. Some words to describe it would be candid, emotive, spirited, relaxed and creative! I’ll mix up my documentary style with some classics (like family shots), and if you are feeling a bit awkward about what to do with a camera around, I will help direct you so you feel relaxed, to ensure we get the best out of your photo session.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED? HOW FAR WILL YOU TRAVEL?
I live in Benalla, in the beautiful North East Victoria. I LOVE to travel for weddings, our wedding packages includes 2 hours travel time. Additional costs may be incurred for extra travel time and/or possibly accommodation if required. Speak to me about a custom quote for your special day.
DO YOU EDIT EVERY IMAGE?
I most certainly do, taking the photos is only half of the job. I will spend many hours carefully editing each and every photo from your day. My style is very natural and will only bring out the most beautiful elements of the picture.
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE RECEIVE?
How many photos you receive comes down to many factors, such as how long we are there for; how many guests you have and how active/shy they are; what the weather is doing; details on the day, and so on. We don’t promise a certain amount per hour, as that can be limiting. Instead we give as many photos as we can, that best tell the story of your wedding day. Sometimes that number is 450 photos, sometimes it’s 800. There’s no set shots or method that allows us to arrive at an exact number – every wedding is unique.
HOW LONG SHOULD WE ALLOW FOR PHOTOS ON THE DAY?
We’ll work out a timeline together closer to the day, but in general you’ll want to allow an hour to shoot the bride and groom getting ready, half an hour for family photos and about 45 minutes for photos of the happy couple. I’ve learnt that the majority of weddings require eight hours of coverage to capture the full editorial narrative of your day. Sometimes a wedding will need longer, and if so, more hours can be added to your package. We’ll discuss all of this when we meet, including travel times, the length of the ceremony and when the sunset is on your day
HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING WILL WE GET OUR PHOTOS?
I like to get your images to you six weeks after the wedding. Image delivery is a two-step process. You will first receive your images on an online gallery within six weeks of your wedding and two weeks after that you will receive a USB of your images in both web quality and print quality.
CAN YOU ORGANISE PRINTING AND ALBUMS FOR US?
Right now, I am mentally high-fiving you because I absolutely believe that photos should be printed and appreciated, not just stored on a USB stick. I use an Australian fine art printing company whose quality is amazing and you will cherish them for many years to come. We believe in Albums so much and creating family heirlooms. Something that you’ll pass down to your kids and grandkids, and you just simply can’t do that with a USB stick. Once we put one of our Hand-Crafted Albums in a couple’s hands, it’s hard to dispute the quality and the emotional connection you get from having something to hold and share.
HOW DO WE BOOK YOU FOR OUR WEDDING?
Please contact me with your wedding date and I will let you know if I am available and send you my price list, we will have a chat by email initially and then organise a meeting in real life (either over a coffee or on the phone) and take it from there. To secure your date you will need to pay the 30% deposit and return the signed contract
YOU MENTIONED A DEPOSIT?
Yes, to secure your date you will need to pay a 30% non-refundable deposit (but transferable). The balance of the cost of photography is due 21 days before your wedding day.
SHOULD WE BOOK AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION?
Our clients routinely report that they loved their engagement session! One reason being this session is like my first date with the two of you before the big day. An engagement session allows me to get to know you as a couple, and vice versa, which often results in a wonderful, easy and relaxed dynamic between us for the shoot on your wedding day. Essentially, having formed a closer connection can enhance what we capture.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE EQUIPMENT FAILS WHILE YOU’RE SHOOTING OUR WEDDING, OR AFTERWARDS?
This isn’t the time and place for tech failures! That’s why I’m extremely prepared for any unforeseen tech circumstances unfolding at your wedding. We obviously can’t predict when and if something may go awry, but we’ll be ready with extra equipment, cards, lenses and other necessary gear to continue without interruption. Even after the wedding, we store images in multiple places for added safety.
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
Absolutely we do. Katie Horn Photography has professional indemnity insurance.
